Please remember your pet's safety during the holidays. There are many good references online about the dangers to your pets during the celebrations coming up. Here are just a few things you should be aware of:
Pets do not make great gifts during the holiday season. Why you ask? For many reasons but here are just a few.
1. You can't wrap them.
2. They could get frightened by all the noise of the season.
3. Losing them with the doors always opening for your family and guest.
4. Stepping on them in all of the unwrapping excitement.
5. They tend to eat the decorations.
6. And putting your new pet somewhere else in the house is ok for pets you already have but, because they are new they might be afraid of being all alone in a strange environment.
Yes they are cute but very sensitive to new surroundings, other pets and new people.
What hurts pets at Christmas?
1. Tinsel; if digested by your pet can lodge in their stomach or intestines and cause illness even death.
2. Safety first. Fit the gift to the size & type of pet. For dogs real bones (especially poultry) can splinter, causing pain, sometimes death.
3. Poisonous plants, Cleaning Products, Chocolate, Climbing Christmas Trees, Extension cords and more. Get down to your pets eye level and see what they see. You can get a better idea of what might be dangerous or even interesting to them and prevent any holiday accidents. This works for your baby as well.
4. Keep your cat safe this holiday. Cat toys can untangle and chock your pet. Check to make sure your pet’s toy comes in one piece for their safety.
5. Food can be a fun gift for pets when made especially for your type of pet. But please go too: http://www.peteducation.com for safe choices.
